Coal & Minerals Overview

On average, every American uses approximately 3.4 tons of coal and nearly 40,000 pounds of newly mined materials each year. With nearly 60 percent  of all U.S. electricity generated from coal and uranium and nearly every manufactured good containing some mineral component, mining has never been a more vital industry.

To help raise consciousness in the United States of the benefits of affordable, reliable coal-generated electricity and the invaluable role of minerals in our lives, NMA is dedicated to educating the government, public and media via national awareness campaigns.
