PROGRAM SET FOR FIRST U.S. INTERNATIONAL COAL CONFERENCE JUNE 12-14, 2000, IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Coal Exporters Association of the United States (CEA) is preparing to host the First U.S. International Coal Conference June 12-14, 2000, in Washington, D.C. The conference will examine the challenges and issues affecting the global coal community including the international coal market and the role of U.S. coal exports.

"Known for exploring and debating the issues and challenges confronting the coal industry, this conference promises to continue the tradition of informative and thought-provoking conferences," said Paul H. Vining, CEA's Chairman and President, Peabody COALSALES, Inc. Previous conferences have been held in Europe and Japan.

A program highlight will be an in-depth panel discussion among CEO's of major U.S. coal producers on the future of the U.S. coal industry. Other topics to be addressed include the restructuring of the electric utility industries worldwide, and prospects for coal trading in the international coal market. The conference program also will include panel discussions and presentations by transportation experts and customers and suppliers of U.S. metallurgical and steam coal.
